SYNOPSIS: Four astronauts are running a mining base on the moon when it gets heavily damaged by a freak asteroid storm. The asteroids destroy most of the base's solar collectors, forcing the rest of the movie to be shot in dim, moody lighting. They also destroy one of the life pods, preventing the crew from escaping. Even better, damage the life support, causing a buildup of carbon monoxide in the base, which may or may not be causing the crew to hallucinate and ensuring that none of them believe any of the others when they claim they're being attacked by an alien monster.

Yes, the asteroids were also carrying alien spores, which infect the female crewmember and impregnate her. Unless it's just a fast-growing tumor. Either way, station commander Christian Slater orders her isolated, ensuring that nobody is watching when she maybe gives birth to an alien monster, unless that was a hallucination and her tumor just went away or something. Okay, probably best not to think about that too hard.

Anyway, Christian thinks she's going crazy and has her restrained, as well as isolated. Meanwhile the alien monster stalks the drunken engineer, who keeps trying to tell the others this, but no one believes him because he's both drunk and probably hallucinating. Eventually, it kills him and uses its shapeshifting powers to mimic him. This turns out to be less of an advantage than you might initially expect, though, since the others find the engineer's dead body before they ever even see the monster mimicking his form, rendering the entire disguise useless. On the plus side, this does save on creature effects, not to mention not having to pay another actor to wear the monster suit.

The monster stalks the other crewmembers through the dimly-lit halls for a while. Christian finally releases the female crewmember from isolation. The monster blows the doctor out the airlock, finally reducing the surviving crew to a number that will fit in the remaining life pod. Unfortunately, the life pod is conveniently designed in such a way that actually launching it requires several steps that have to be taken by two people in different locations -- ideal for use in emergency situations! -- forcing Christian and the female crewmember to repeatedly split up to almost get killed by the monster. They do, however, finally manage to start the launch sequence, allowing the monster to beat them to the life pod and use it to fly back to Earth and wipe out the human race, while they remain stuck on the moonbase. Way to go, Christian!
