Poor Dr. Albanos. He's having car trouble. First one door. Then the other. And his brakes won't work. And accelerator sticks. And the hood flies up. And oh, yeah, he EXPLODES and flies off a cliff. Interesting side-note, several characters ask about him later in the film, so one can presume the wreckage and his body were somehow never discovered despite the fire and smoke of the crash. Huh.
