Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus (2009)
Nomination Year: 2015
SYNOPSIS: Science takes a back seat to the power of hate in Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus. We get to see the calving iceberg that narrowly misses (Emma MacNeil [Deborah Gibson])'s mini-submarine. Inside that ice? A very large shark and an unusually outsized octopus locked in combat. They thaw (apparently smoothly and simultaneously), and go their separate ways.
Strange aquatic attacks happen all over the globe. An oil platform uprooted by an octopus. A plane pulled from the sky by a shark.
The Navy has a cunning plan to-- It doesn't work. The scientists (Emma & Lamar Sanders, her wanderingly-accented Irish mentor) work with the Navy to-- It doesn't work. The Japanese government has a few suggestions, which don’t work -- although Emma does get to fall for the Japanese scientist.
Suddenly, Emma has a realization. Thrilla in Manilla! Make the prehistoric hatred work in their favor. They concoct a plan to bring the mega shark and the giant octopus together to finish that fight they started millions of years ago.
Does it work? "Only in My Dreams." It's Debbie Gibson's plan! It's hardly "Out of the Blue" that these prehistoric titans that spent millions of years "Staying Together" "Lost in Your Eyes"berg would give in to the "Foolish Beat" of their "Red Hot" hatred. "Anything is Possible" even "This So-Called Miracle."
