The Punisher  (1989)
Nomination Year: 1993
SYNOPSIS: Ex-cop Frank Castle's family is killed by bad guys, so he goes renegade and takes the law into his own extremely-violent hands. With the help of a couple of friends who are "good with tools," he patrols the streets in a high-tech gadget-laden van and motorcycle, searching for the criminal organization that took his loved ones. Oh, he finds it, all right. Then everyone gets punished. Especially us.

Who Put That Thing There?!
The Punisher is fighting a bunch of ninjas in a dojo. They beat him up for a bit, but, one by one, he gets the better of them. The last one he finishes off in a particularly spectacular move -- he kicks the guy, who flies backwards to land on a very conveniently placed fan of sword blades. The ninja is skewered many times over. I still have no idea what that rake-like arrangement of swords was supposed to be. A rack, maybe? But then how could you have gotten a sword from it when they're all point-outward? I'm guessing it was simply a ninja-skewerer.

Actor Character Claim to Fame
Dolph Lundgren <Not Yet in Database> Bulgy-bicep action star, supposedly brainy as well as brawny. His Masters in Chemical Engineering sure doesn't show on-screen. Been in a TON of Bad action flicks, too many to recount here. Suffice it to say we have a saying in the Smithees: "We prefer our movies like we prefer our tuna -- without Dolph in."
Louis Gossett, Jr. <Not Yet in Database> An Oscar-winning and prolific actor who was best known as the Drac in Enemy Mine; Sgt. Emil Foley in An Officer and a Gentleman; Charles "Chappy" Sinclair in the Iron Eagle franchise; Calvin Bouchard in Jaws 3-D; George Murchison in A Raisin in the Sun; and Isak Poole on "The Young Rebels." You've seen him.
