Anthony Shaffer's The Wicker Man
The Wickerman
Nomination Year: 1997
SYNOPSIS: There is a murder -- or maybe not. In any case, a prissy Scottish policeman is sent to an isolated island to investigate. There's really bad paganism, and he gets offended. Then there are strange instances of music and nudity, and he gets offended.
Then he's sacrificed to ensure a good crop next year, and we're offended that they took 102 minutes to do it. Ugh.
