Catman in Lethal Track (1990)
US Catman: Lethal Track
Nomination Year: 2007
SYNOPSIS: Yet another in the popular series of Asian martial arts films with Caucasians wedged into them. This time, the plot of the Asian film involves rebels capturing an army general. The Caucasian film involves two guys fighting the evil Holy Cheever Church. The Asian:Caucasian ratio is about 5:1 -- the Asian film is better, but the Caucasian bits are more amusing. Apart from the dubbing, the two films don't really intersect at all.
- Most Ludicrous Premise
Amazing Cat-Like Powers
Sam was scratched by a radioactive cat.
He gains the power to turn on and off electrical appliances -- just like a cat.
He can light cigarettes with his amazing laser vision -- just like a cat.
He can even punch a hole in a wall -- just like a cat.
- Best One-Liner
What If He's Not Breathing?
Gus & Sam need information, but the only informant they can find might be dead.
Gus: "What if he's not breathing?"
Sam: "Then we don't ask him."
- Worst Cover Copy
"The Murderous Criminal Syndicates! Fist Fly!"
The front cover is a goofy drawing. On the back, sprinkled between the stills, commas are criminally misused, and words are misspelled (primarily by having letters dropped).
- Crummiest Ending
Over-Enunciated Swear Words Are Always Funny
The clip begins with Catman shouting a warning to Gus ("Beware of that fucker!"). It encompasses the final fight between Gus, Sam (Catman), the secondary Cheever priest who only appears in this scene, and the High Priest of Cheever. Just as the High Priest is about to get away, Catman takes off part of his goofy goggles, and the High Priest falls over, dead. Red screen. The end. Huh?
- Worst Picture
"We Must Spread the Anti-Gospel"
The evil high priest of the Cheever Church addresses his flock. They must spread the anti-gospel. Kill those who cross them. Have sex with anything that moves. Suddenly Catman bursts in, and poses -- then attacks! Catman's ally Gus attacks as well.
