(Foreign Titles)
Nomination Year: 2007
SYNOPSIS: A group of people (skipper, first mate, movie star, millionaire, professor, his student, and a popular novelist) go on a pleasure cruise together, and their boat is caught in a violent storm. It drifts until they come ashore on an island shrouded in mist.

There is virtually nothing to eat on the island (few plants, no animals) until they discover that it's teeming with mushrooms. They also find a much larger vessel that has been beached for at least a year, and discover that there's something unusual about the mushrooms. Like, how do mushrooms teem, anyway?

A Meteorologist in the Making
Three of the remaining castaways are languishing on the beached research vessel.
"It's been raining for a week!" says one of the men.
"Must be the rainy season," adds the woman.

"Whoops!"
FTL Bullets
When firing the rifle, you see the puffs of smoke on the ground a bit before you see the puffs of smoke from the rifle muzzle. They must have developed faster-than-light ammunition before indoor plumbing!

Ishirô Honda Arguably the father of Godzilla -- in a metaphorical sense. If there's a giant rubber Japanese monster hanging around, he's probably the guy pointing the camera at it.
